Since the initial announcement, some additional details of the program have been made available. To help clarify the details of this initiative, our team has reviewed the available documents and outlined the key details below.
What is the Greener Homes Program?
The federal government has established the Greener Homes Grant to help Canadian homeowners make their homes more comfortable and reduce their energy costs while decreasing their environmental impact. Basically, the initiative will assist in increasing the energy-efficiency of homes across the country, will help create new jobs for Canadian energy advisors and home renovation contractors as well as fight climate change.
To help achieve these goals, the Government of Canada is providing:
✔︎ Up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help Canadian homeowners make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes
✔︎ Support with EnerGuide home evaluations (worth up to $600) to provide expert advice to homeowners, so they can plan out their upgrades
